Paula Veysey Smith BA (Hons) FICB.C

FOUNDER

Paula has been instrumental in growing businesses for over 25 years. With a degree in Business she started her career working at a multinational corporation which gave her a great insight into how to manage business. 


She started her first bookkeeping practice in 1998 but then took the opportunity to be appointed as the Financial Director of an international logistics company in 2002. The expertise she gained was invaluable. In 2006 she decided to return to private practice to use her knowledge and experience to assist other business owners to succeed.


MPower Accounting qualified and regulated through the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) and Paula has worked closely with the ICB to raise the awareness of the bookkeeping profession.  In recognition of this work, she has been appointed a Vice President of the ICB. 


With a wealth of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, and dealing with the HMRC, her passion remains the same; to work with and empower new and existing businesses to achieve the goals that they aspire to achieve.

Claudia Burgos FICB

DIRECTOR

Claudia joined M:Power at the beginning of 2017, after moving to Cranbrook from Central London.


She began her bookkeeping career when she took over managing the accounting department for an estate agent, but decided that private practice was the way forward.  Claudia built her own practice but after working with Paula doing the bookkeeping for MPower clients she decided to merge with MPower. 


She is now a co-Director of MPower Accounting and assists Paula in managing the practice.

Birgit Saunders FICB

SENIOR BOOKKEEPER

Birgit joined M:Power in 2016 and is a qualified bookkeeper having been registered with the ICB since 2012.  Before that she held various financial reporting and managerial positions within the retail and defence sector.  This background gives her a wealth of experience for  helping small business.

Birgit is one of our senior bookkeepers and looks after clients in a number of business sectors. She has experience in a number of software packages but specialises in Sage and Xero.

Louise Gibson MICB

BOOKKEEPER

Louise’s background is in insurance but decided to qualify as a bookkeeper and pursue this career. 


She has grown to be a key member of the MPower team and is experienced in both Xero and Freeagent.  She works closely with clients not only completing their bookkeeping but also assisting them use the information to achieve their business goals.

Terry Ramm FICB

TAX SPECIALIST

Terry is a Fellow of ICB and has completed the higher level taxation qualifications.  In 2017 he was awarded a LUCA (The Oscars of the Bookkeeping world) for New Practice of the Year. He works alongside Paula supporting her in providing the accounting and tax services to MPower clients.

Previously Terry worked in IT environment where he was Director of an International Software company for 15 years.

Karen Cain FICB PM.Dip

PAYROLL Specialist

Karen Cain joined MPower in 2022 to run our payroll bureau. She has extensive knowledge and expertise in all elements of payroll and is fully qualified through the ICB.

 

Before specialising in payroll Karen held senior positions in accounting departments in major national companies. This experience gives her a depth of experience when dealing with payroll and the associated functions for any sized business.
